There are hundreds of credit card advisers giving advice on how to get rid of credit card debt and the majority of advisers have not done it themselves. If you want to get out of credit card debt, and learn how to improve credit debt, the first step is to stop using your credit card(s). You have to make a commitment to only purchase everything from now on with the cash in your wallet, pocket or purse. You must break the habit of depending on credit or credit cards to survive. Now, you may be asking the question, how can I achieve this goal, and will it some how improve credit debt? Well the simple answer is, you have to start putting together a budget of your hard earn money.

At the beginning of each month, write down how much income you'll received for the entire month and allocate each dollar to an appropriate category in your budget. A trusted financial and credit adviser, once told me that I should tell each dollar where to go and this is another step at learning how to improve credit debt. Take control of your money, don't let your money control you. Believe that you are in charge and that you are the boss of your financial and credit future.

In making your budget, you are learning how to improve credit debt, identify your needs and wants. This may sound rudiment or simple, but the reality is that sometimes the difference between a need and want become blurred between the lines. When my family first completed a budget, we considered cable t.v. a need. By including cable as part of our budget, it cost us more time and money to pay off our bills. Let's consider the average cable bill is $150 per month,in twelve months you'll pay $1800. I don't know about you, but I could have paid a couple of credit card balances with $1800. Once you have your budget under control, prioritized your debt. If you owe IRS or state taxes, commit to paying these first. Either agency have the power to garnish your wages, seize bank account and or take tax refunds.

If taxes is not an issued, any money left over at the end of the month should be applied to the smallest credit card balance. By paying the smaller balance first instead of the cards with the higher interest rates, you'll see faster progress and enjoy victories more often. After paying off the first card, apply the payment from the card you paid off along with any extra money to the next card. This is called the Snowball effect. This process is to be continued until all balances are zero.

To eliminate credit card debt, STOP USING CREDIT CARDS, make a commitment to only using cash. Write out a budget at the end of each month; Identify needs vs. wants; Allocate every dollar to a category on the budget; Every extra dollar should be applied to the smallest credit card balance. Before you know it, you'll be credit card debt free and you would have learned how to improve credit debt, by following these steps.
