Second Amendment Rights anyone? Well, here we go again a massive gun shooting in Nevada Las Vegas at a country music concert. More than twenty-two thousand people in the audience standing and sitting around enjoying themselves to the music and activities. Then all of a sudden, bang, bang, bang, people are hearing the sounds, but not knowing what or where these bangs were coming from.
After a few seconds, people started realizing that these bangs were not fireworks set off on purpose, but these bangs were from a lone gunman on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. This lone gunman started shooting with some type of semi-automatic rifle at rapid-fire shooting and killing 59 and injuring more than five hundred people in that concert area. I know everyone is asking themselves how this selfish act of violence can happen again.
Well all of the law enforcement community in Las Vegas, FBI, Homeland Security, and ATF (Alcohol and Firearms) and trying to put the pieces to this tragic event together to come up with a motive as to the reason why, a 64-year-old man who lived in Nevada some 80 miles from Las Vegas would spend more than 5 days concocting, planning and then eventually carry out this evil upon fellow Americans.
Well, I truly hope all of these law enforcement agencies can piece together a motive and give the families of the people who lives were lost some type of solace regarding why this happen to their loved one. Right now many people in The United States of America are searching for answers as to why this always seems to happen when we least excepted. With everything else such as potential wars, conflicts, racial issues and many are uprising throughout the world why this now and here in America. Our law enforcement supposed to be better equipped to stop something like this from happening, right? We are not like other countries where this type of massive killings with guns happens on a regular basis we are to believe. These numbers of killings with a gun by a single gunman cannot and should not happen here in The United States of America.
Well, there is one thing we have to remember is that we have this little issue of the second amendment, where it states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Let’s try to get an understanding of what this amendment means as I believe because many people have different understandings of what the second amendment states. Here we go; the second amendment was put in place to help fellow Americans protect themselves when there was no police force or agencies to protect our freedoms. Back when the second amendment was put in place there were people running around killing people because people did not have protections of the law.
So our founding fathers said hey we have to give the people an opportunity to protect their life and property from these murders and thieves, so they instituted the second amendment. But now we do have protections of law enforcement to help protect our life and property, where we can seek justice in our time of need. So we should not need our own protections by owning guns we can call the police and seek justice in the courts of law.
The Second Amendment is a firestorm of feelings on both sides of the issue as to why people believe and not believe they should own and not own or carry weapons in public. These massive shooting are becoming more prevalent in all areas. It does not matter it seems as to where you live we all are touched by these senseless destruction of human lives for no reason that we can fathom.
So what do we do about the second amendment? Well all of us have to become more involved in the debate so that we can have a voice to help shape our countries beliefs as to have we live, work and play. Stop believing that your voice is not heard, because if you remain silent no one can hear you, so get involved.
