Counting one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three everything is back to normal right? This is a reality TV show filming for the past year and half right? So everything should be going back to normal and President-elect Mr. Trump is not going to be the president of the United States of America correct? No this is not a reality TV show this is real life and Mr. Trump is going to be president of the United States of America in about 2 months from now and a real president not some reality TV show president.
Where are all of those people who were claiming that Mr. Trump’s run for president was a joke because no one took him seriously when he decided to pursue this crusade of becoming a real president. So what happen? People from his own republican party said that Mr. Trump was not qualified to be president. The pundits told us that Donald Trump had no chance. The pundits said that he was a clown, buffoon and he was running to get the upper hand when he returns to the negotiating table with television executives.
The pundits told us that there were more qualified individuals running for president that we should not take Donald Trump serious at all. The pundits told us that Donald Trump who had no political or military experience, filed bankruptcy a few times on a couple of businesses and Donald stiffs his own workers for work that they have done for him, no way should he be taking seriously for President of the United States of America.
Running for president is serious business and we do not want someone who is not qualified to lead this country. Not the United States of America, you have to be more than qualified to lead. We would look foolish if he won his party nominee and then became president-elect. Don’t worry this could not happen because the American people would come to their senses and do the right thing. Because we as a people know what is best for us and Donald Trump is not what we need right now, because we have too many issues in this country. This is what we were told from people who thought that they knew more than the people who lived and breathed everyday life were feeling.
We should have known that things were different when 17 others in the republican primaries could not defeat Mr. Trump. They were all against him using all sorts of underhand comments and tricks, but Mr. Trumps’ popularity just kept on rising as if he were some shining new star or Teflon Don or one of the untouchables. Still, the media and or pundits would not consider Mr. Trump a serious candidate. What was it that everyone was missing or did not understand about this man?
Maybe it was all of our own bias as to what we believe someone should look like, feel like and should act like a president, to become our president. Mr. Trumps’ speech was different; he was defiant to the norms of running an election campaign. He would not conform to our norms or what we consider to be normal. Maybe that was the difference, people wanted something different and he was just that vessel at the moment and he saw it and understood the people.
Sometimes you could be so close to something that you cannot understand what the issues are or were. Like that cliché’ that says “can’t see the forest for the trees”. We could not put a finger on what made Mr. Trump different, and what made him appealing to the people who voted for him to become our President-elect and in a few months President of the United States of America.
Now that the election is finally over my hope is that hopefully we can all sit back and relax a little bit, so that we can see issues for what they are and not try and put our own interpretations or biases and then and only then we can truly see the forest and determine what are real trees.
Will someone wake me, because this is reality TV? No this is not reality TV and Mr. Trump did when our presidential contest and soon we will be calling him Mr. President of the United States of America.
